Child Protection

As a church, we take child protection very seriously. We have a stringent child protection policy and all our children’s workers are DBS checked. There is a first aider present at all activities.

Weymouth Baptist Church will always aim to create an environment of freedom and security, enabling every Young Person we work with to be exposed to the life-changing Truth and Love of Jesus Christ, with their growth and development as a disciple being paramount.

Sunday Mornings

Kids on the Wey

Kids on the Wey

10:00 am children meet with their families for a time of praise with the whole church.

10:15 am children go to their own special age related groups:

  • Creche     for 0 - 4 yr olds
  • Splash     for 4 - 7yr olds
  • Xstream  for 7 - 11 yr olds
  • (for 11+ see Sanctuary Youth Club below)

Through “Kids on the Wey” we aim to:~

  • Investigate God’s word
  • Imitate Jesus and be…….
  • Inspired by the Holy Spirit

We try to achieve this through many age-related activities including:- Bible stories, children’s worship, quizzes, drama, craft, role play, prayer activities, life application discussions and learning through play. We believe that children are the church of today. God has made each child special and we hope to nurture each child’s gift in order to help others. We want to help them grow close to God and discover his plan for their lives.

If a child wants to attend Kids on the Wey on their own they need to arrive at the Church at 10:15 am and be collected by 11:30 am approximately. Each child attending needs their parent to complete a registration form.

Monday Evenings

Girls' Brigade

Girls’ Brigade

What is GB?

GB is a great organisation that cares about girls and young women. It is run by Christian leaders who believe you are important to God, and that God has a lot to offer young people TODAY.

It doesn't mean we're old-fashioned and boring; in fact, you might be surprised how much fun you can have and how much fun God wants you to have.

Where does GB happen?

GB is in over 60 countries around the world and in many towns in Britain. We meet in churches, schools and community centres. Some groups meet once a week and others run activities on other evenings as well.

What does GB do?

Depending on how old you are GB does different things:  Days out, camps,  games,  worship,  drama,  dance, helping others, Duke of Edinburgh, singing and national events to name a few. Girls work for badges and also other activities.

Who is GB for?

Girls can start at 4 in some cases, but you can join at any age. We have a programme for girls aged 4-18 and then further training opportunities.

Is GB for me?

Only you can decide that! Why not give us a try? If you want the chance to do different things, be challenged, get involved in new things or simply have some fun with other people like you, then YES, GB is for you.

Girls' Brigade in Lock-down

Our last meeting at WBC was on 16th March. Two weeks before this we held a taster session at Beechcroft School, following which four new girls came and two more were very interested. Four other new girls joined in March too. We were thrilled to almost double our numbers and then suddenly we had to temporarily close!

We decided we needed to keep in contact with all our girls during the time we couldn’t meet face to face. Since then we have been posting badge work for them to do at home each week. For juniors upwards this has been a series of sessions on LOVE based on the story of Ruth and Naomi in the Bible. The sessions have had to be adjusted a bit so it was possible for the girls to do the work without the staff, but in many cases there was need for discussion with a parent.

Each week there has been something to learn, something linked to the story, something to make, which might be given to someone to show they care. One week they made heart biscuits to share with their family. There was something to pray about and finishing with some games challenges to improve on each week. This week, hopefully they will be making a poster to include what they have learned over the weeks and then they will send me a picture of that so I can see whether they have earned their badge.

What is really good about all this is that I am sending Christian stuff into 18 homes for 21 girls and only 5 of these girls ever go to church anywhere. What an opportunity!!!

Last night we had a Zoom meeting so some of the girls and their parents turned up for that. Please pray about this – that the resources in the envelopes each week and the discussions girls have with their parents will be used by God to further His kingdom. Please also pray these girls will come back when we can meet properly.

Tuesday Evenings

Youth Cell

A small group for teenagers.

We often spend time together over a meal before we dig deeper into God's word. We've studied the book of Ephesians, later exploring each part of "the armour of God". We've studied Hebrews, and each teen took turns leading the Bible study and discussion. We've looked at ways we can support the persecuted church, types of prayer, the sovereignty of God, and even what the Bible says about angels!

Quotes from teens:

“Youth Cell is a really supportive group to be in that helps deepen my faith in Christ and is a great way to get closer to other teenagers and leaders in the church.”

“It’s literally not that bad”

“Youth Cell is a great opportunity to see other young people and is very supportive and friendly”

Wednesday Mornings

Treasures

Treasures

WBC's Baby and Toddler group.

We are open during term time on Wednesdays from 10.00 - 11.30 am.

Treasures meet in the large hall where we have plenty of things to do from craft, playdough, sensory play, ride-on cars, dressing up, a home corner, slide and see-saw, toys and a lovely safe area for babies too.

There are hot drinks (and normally some yummy biscuits) available and juice/water for the children.

We have a healthy snack time and a fabulous singing time and JoJo even plays guitar!  -  "Oh the grand old Duke of York"

Everyone is welcome from 0-5 years old.

There is no charge but if you would like to bring a piece of fruit to share with the group for snack time that would be brilliant!

Treasures is run by a friendly group of volunteers from Weymouth Baptist Church who are CRB/DBS checked, and we have a safeguarding policy.

We look forward to welcoming you! View the Treasures Photo Album.
